Civic Engagement

Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. It means promoting this quality of life through both political and non-political processes.

When people are aware of their responsibilities to their communities, they act in several ways such as:

  1. Learning from others to develop informed perspectives on social issues
  2. Participating actively in public life, public problem solving, and community service
  3. Assuming leadership and membership roles in organizations;
  4. Developing empathy, ethics, values, and sense of social responsibility

Taking an active role in political processes.

UW Impact aims to develop a heightened sense of responsibility towards the university, its programs and mission, and the future growth of this institution.
